He said it would give an efficient and environment-friendly transport system to the public of Haryana especially those living in Gurugram and its vicinity. Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal applauded the efforts made by the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation team for getting the project cleared from the Board. Last year, the Public Investment Board cleared the 28.5-km-long metro corridor between HUDA City Centre and Cyber City in Gurugram.
Officials familiar with the development told the news agency PTI that a request to rename the station had come from both the Centre and the Haryana government.
Taking to Twitter yet aagin, the DMRC informed, “In reference to our earlier tweet regarding the renaming of the HUDA City Centre Metro station, this is to inform that the full name of the station will read as Millennium City Centre Gurugram.". This time they named it- Millennium City Centre Gurugram. The DMRC made a third attempt and ‘hopefully’ the final attempt at renaming the HUDA City Centre Metro station. "In partial modification of the earlier announcement regarding the renaming of the HUDA City Centre Metro station on Yellow Line, it has now been decided by competent authorities to rename the station as Millennium City Centre," DMRC's second tweet read.
Notably, this is the second rechristening effort made by the DMRC in a span og just three hours. Later the DMRC posted another tweet where it was mentioned that the HUDA City Centre Metro station would be renamed ‘Millennium City Centre’ and not ‘Gurugram city centre’, as was planned earlier.
